Chronosequence: Field Notes from Mama Cayambe

Opening Reception: Saturday, March 9th, 7:00-10:00 pm.Chronosequence is a meditation on Byers' collaborative research in the field with the El Hato people and a group of scientists studying climate change impact in the high tropical Andes. Drawing on direct, sensory experiences of the Hermoso Glacier and the La Dormida watershed in Cayambe, Ecuador, Chronosequence aims to describe a “time for change” model through visual, tactile and olfactory images and experiences. The interplay between gathering data, navigating the complex and difficult terrain of this field site and documenting its dramatic changes bear witness to our current climate change crisis.
